Top 3 Shopping Destinations for NUDE Fashion

July 29, 2015

Nude Fashion

Nude fashion is a huge phenomenon. Buying it is fairly easy, but tracking it down takes some work. Especially since we have to find our perfect nudes. To make it easy for everyone, we've listed our top online website to shop for all types of nudes.

This website is amazing. It literally shows every type of nude product from fashion to beauty, and then gives you the option to search for dark or light nudes. This website basically helps you find nude products for your specific skin tone.

Now we know this online store isn't tailored to nude products specifically, but it still has some of the greatest selections at affordable prices!

You might think NAKED eyeshadow palettes as soon as you hear the word nude being referred to Urban Decay products, but what most people don't realize is that there is a whole NAKED collection. Urban Decay provides not only the highly popular palettes, but also a concealer, powder foundation, liquid foundation, finishing powder, eyeliners, lipgloss, bronzers, illuminators, and specialized makeup brushes for products from this NAKED collection.

Your Spray Tanning Questions Answered

July 27, 2015

Why spray tan?

It's common knowledge that spray tanning has become a very popular method for a decent amount of people to achieve a tan, or "glow." But it has many other uses than just adding color to the skin. Spray tanning isn't just for people lacking in melanin, but for people with problematic skin as well from light to dark skin tone. You can cover cellulite, acne, acne scarring, scars in general, and even out your skin tone. Basically, tanning isn't just for the pale.

What is spray tanning? How is it done?

Spray tanning is a form of sunless tanning. A fine mist made of the main ingredient, Dihydroxyacetone (DHA) is sprayed across your body to give you a tan. DHA basically gives your skin the bronze look. This mist can be sprayed by using a booth with nozzles or jets, or with an airbrush/airgun.

How long does the tan last?

Your tan, after getting a spray tan, will last 3-7 days.

Is it safe? Is it worth it?

Spray tanning is a safer (and most effective way) to tan. Yes, it's a bit costly, but it's definitely worth it. The majority of celebrities and models you see on your television screen with tan looks have most likely been spray tanned. No one wants to risk skin cancer by baking in the sun anymore.

Where to go?

Spray tanning is best done by professionals (therefore the higher costs of this method). If you are a local ANGELENO, we have been hearing rave reviews of L.A. SUN SPRAY TAN in Downtown LA (ask for Dila and let her know Covered in Nude referred you). Or, simply Yelp spray tanning places closest to you. Determine your selection by comparing prices and reviews.

Nude Swimwear: Trend Alert: Going Nude At The Beach

July 25, 2015

Nude at the beach, NUDE SWIMWEAR

Going Nude at the beach?

NUDE SWIMWEAR is becoming a huge phenomena for summer time fashion.

All types of swimsuits have been coming out in shades of nudes and beiges. Some of our favorites include sets from the trending line, Triangl:

Nasty Gal has some great pieces too!

      7867821cbe72365f73925e4274528413       9d2f02eb8bb0d7517ec4cdac7adff8ba

We know the struggles of finding the perfect nude swimsuit when your skin has more melanin, so we found this elegant Zubaida Zang option.

Try not to concentrate on the label, "nude." Remember, the concept of NUDE fashion is simply to match or compliment your skin, and women come in MANY shades. Look for brown swimsuits if need be! After all, brown is a nude, and a beautiful shade at that.

BUT lighter beiges/nudes look gorgeous on dark skin as well!

Nudes for Dark Skin

July 24, 2015

Nudes for Dark Skin

Wearing Nudes for dark skin has become a great trend! Nude fashion is supposed to be based on the concept of matching garments, accessories, and beauty products to your skin tone. You don't necessarily have to find the exact shade your skin (pretty sure that's just about impossible), but you can add beiges into your closet that complement you specifically. There are actually many different shades of nude throughout the apparel and beauty industries, but many women still complain about not being able to find their correct shade, or shades that can work with their skin tones. And, it's mainly darker women.

Let's just be honest for a second. The industry has a problem. It's biased, and actually racist if you think about it. Yes, there are so many shades of nudes sold out there. But when these colors are chosen or created by companies to be branded as their nudes, the Caucasian woman is kept in mind. So darker women do have a major problem finding their own nudes. There are brands created to cater to this niche, but there is still a very little variety of dark nudes. But just because you're darker than the average Caucasian women, it doesn't mean you can't embrace and share the power of nude fashion. Here are some tricks to owning the trend and making it your own:

Buy browns.

Literally, just shop browns! There's no shame in dark skin. Dark women are absolutely breathtaking. So if you happen to match browns over the industry's generic "nude," then just get your brown lingerie or lipstick.

Buy the generic nudes too.

If the color compliments you, just get it! Products marked as "nudes" are basically shades of beiges. Everyone looks good in neutrals. It honestly doesn't matter if the shade is lighter than your own skin.

Go Pink.

Pink is literally becoming the new nude. I'm not talking Barbie pink, but muted pink.

Shop specialty brands.

If you really want to get your perfect shade, or aren't happy with what's already in the saturated market, then shop specialty brands. There is a decent amount of brands that cater to skin with more melanin. Below are some brands for your basic nude essentials.

Shoes: No need to sulk on the fact that you can't get your perfect nude in a Louboutin. The luxury brand actually has a decent collection of nudes. Check out their Nude Collection.

Lingerie and Hosiery: Ever heard of Nubian Skin? They're amazing! You don't have to settle for anything less than what your nude bra should be.

Makeup: IMAN Cosmetics was created to not only provide beauty products for darker women, but also to help you find your specific shade of makeup. Download their app on your smart phones to learn more! Their shade finder is an awesome tool.

Please realize that nude isn't a definite color.

The generic nudes sold in stores may be made with Caucasian women in mind, but the industry is highly flawed. Your skin color is not. Embrace the skin you were born in. Dark is beautiful. So wear whatever makes you feel confident. Period.

As an end note, check out one of our favorite Instagram bloggers, Estaregrams for inspo! Her nude looks could kill.

Exclusive Interview With The Thrifty Makeup Artist: “I don’t like spending any more than $6.00 on just one makeup item.”

July 20, 2015

Want to meet the girl who spends an average of $2-3 on makeup, and can pull off a Kylie Jenner?

We got the chance to interview Amanda Marie Cadena, who calls herself the Thrifty Makeup Artist, and we picked up some great tips and tricks for you! We were literally speechless when we ran across her Instagram page, because this beauty pulls of the following looks without breaking the bank!

Check out her nudes:

Impressed yet? Just wait until you read her responses to our questions:

First things first, how much do you really spend on makeup?

"I would have to say that the average price is $1.99-$3.99. I really don’t like spending any more than $6.00 on just one item makeup item." So then, where are your shopping destinations?! "They are all over the place! I always keep an eye out wherever I go because they are a dime a dozen. When I am driving around town, and I see hole in the wall stores with the title containing words such as dollar, beauty, accessories, 0.99 cents, or save, I always take a few minutes to stop in to see what they have. The majority of the time they will be selling beauty products at inexpensive prices. Some of my favorite places are Gran Dollar (Covina, CA)  Monte Dollar (El Monte, CA), Beauty World (West Covina, CA), Chloe Accessories (Brea, CA), Family Dollar stores, and 99 Cents Only stores." What are some of your most treasured brands and/or products? "Italia Deluxe would have to be my favorite inexpensive makeup brand. They have GREAT products for the best prices. The only negative aspect about the brand is that they don't have a company website. The majority of the products are wholesale, and you have to find them in a store, eBay, or Amazon. NYX is another one of my favorite inexpensive makeup brands. Although their prices are not the cheapest I have seen. But you can purchase a vast amount of NYX products without having a heart attack at checkout (Find them at Target or on NYX!). Also, Jordana Cosmetics has some of the best lipsticks! I have replaced all my MAC lipstick colors with similar (if not exact) colors from Jordana. Each lipstick is $1.49 on Jordana Cosmetics!" How do you keep your makeup on all day?  "By applying a skin/face primer before applying any type of makeup. I use NYX's Angel Veil, and I apply an eye shadow primer or base. I use NYX's Proof It, which is a water proof eye shadow primer. I also recommend setting your makeup by applying a setting powder over your foundation or concealer. I use Ruby Kisses HD Setting Powder. Once you're done applying your makeup, use a finishing spray. I love NYX's Matte Finishing Spray. All of these products are amazing, and under $10.00! This is way less than what you would spend for a brand name product." Is there a different application technique to budget-friendly makeup? From your Youtube videos and Instagram posts, we've noticed that you use your hands versus using blending sponges, or makeup brushes. "Using my fingers to apply products is just a technique I prefer. I use it for inexpensive makeup and higher end makeup because I find that my fingers can blend better than most brushes. They are also easier to clean! For all of the inexpensive makeup products I have, I use the same techniques others would use with brand name makeup. I have yet to find an inexpensive makeup product that did not perform well, or caused me to change my technique." Has any of this makeup made you breakout? How does your skin react to these products? Is it safe for women to be using inexpensive makeup on a daily basis? "I am fortunate enough to not have any other skin problems besides having really oily skin and rare breakouts. By changing my entire makeup collection from higher end products to inexpensive makeup, I have not seen any negative effects on my skin. Personally, I believe that wearing inexpensive makeup daily is just as safe as wearing the regular brand name products. Though as a precaution, I would suggest trying the inexpensive products one by one, and adding in new products each time to see how the skin reacts." Can you name some of your favorite NUDE products? "My current favorite nude product has to be JCats' Beauty Hydrating Lip Stain in Fappening. I love the consistency of the lippie, and the color is the ultimate nude! I found it for $3.99 at Citiwear (a local clothing store). I use it whenever I don’t know what lipstick to wear. It will probably remain my favorite for a very long time!" Are there any additional tips or techniques you would like to share with our readers? "When applying a nude lipstick, try lining lips with a lip liner that is a shade darker than what you are going to wear. There will be more definition on your lips, and you won't end up looking sickly, or like a ghost. Also, it's important to keep your skin tone in mind when trying to find the perfect nude lipstick. If you have pale skin, try more peachy nude tones. A warm/ashy nude lipstick goes great on people with medium skin tones. Dark skin tones should go for a dark beige lippie; definitely stay away from the brighter nudes." Wow! Thanks Amanda!

IT’S FRIDAY! Keep your nude lipstick on all night!

July 17, 2015

Nude Lipstick

unnamed-10   unnamed-11

With the weekend drawing close (right after your 9-5 of course), we know a good amount of you will be heading out tonight. Lipstick can be the worst to keep on throughout the Friday night craziness. So we have a few pointers! Let's keep your nude lipstick on all night this weekend.

Here are the products you will need:

nude lipstick

1. Your everyday foundation (probably already on your face).

2. A loose or pressed powder.

3. Your perfect nude lipstick.

4. A matching lip liner.

5. Lip gloss (if you've opted for the glossy look).

6. Tissue or toilet paper (we'll explain in a bit!).

7. Your brushes or other applicators.

After you've gathered your makeup, let's get started.

When you're putting on your foundation, go ahead and apply it on your lips as well.

Then take your lip liner, and fill in ALL of your lips.

Now take your tissue (or piece of toilet paper) and gently press it over your lips.

Go ahead and take your brush dipped in your loose or pressed powder, and glide it over your lips.

Now apply your lipstick.

If you want that creamy satin look, your done!

But if you want it glossy, go ahead and apply lip gloss.

unnamed-12 unnamed-13

For a more matte look, you would simply change the order of your powdering, and skip the lip gloss! Powder the lips at the very end instead of right after applying your lip liner, like so:

1. Foundation over lips.

2. Lip liner

3. Lipstick

4. Powder

Wether you go matte, satin, or glossy, your lips should stay in place for the rest of your night.

Enjoy! Happy Friday!

Angelina+Jolie+Gold+Sunglasses+Dolce+Gabbana+nude+sweater  Jessica Alba sunglasses BE4107, Nude Sunglasses

So today, we're going to help you find the perfect pair of nude sunglasses.

First, let's figure out your face shape:

Print Above are the most common face shapes.

The oval face shape includes a wider forehead, prominent cheekbones, and tapers towards the chin. Hannah Simone, Solange Knowles, and Ann Hathaway are great examples of an oval shape face.

The round face shape's width and length measurement is almost the same, and the widest part is the cheek to cheek ratio. These features are all present in the faces of Emma Stone, Mila Kunis, and Mindy Kaling.

The square face shape is where the forehead, cheekbones, and jaw line are almost a similar width. The most prominent feature of a square shape face is the jaw line. Lucy Liu, Salma Hayek, and Torrey DeVitto all have very defined jaw lines.

The heart face shape strongly tapers towards the chin. The chin is usually very pointy and the most prominent feature is the forehead. Kerry Washington, Kourtney Kardashian, and Katherine Mcphee's faces could almost be traced to a perfect heart shape.

Once you've figured out your face shape, below is a chart to help you determine which type of sunglasses will suit your face shape.
